Made for Drink
Made for Drink was born from an inquisitive enthusiasm to immerse itself in the finest snacking traditions from around the globe, acquainting themselves with best-in-class ingredients, cooking methods and customs. The big idea was creating snacks that paired perfectly with one’s favourite alcoholic tipples, such as Gallic Duck Fritons (full-bodied IPA), Chorizo Thins pairing with Rjoca, Mangalitza Salami Chips (align with the best fruity pilsners) or twice-fried plantain chips that couple perfectly with rum.

Idea Reality Ltd
Idea Reality offers product design and launch services to inventors and companies who want to create innovative new products. Founded in 2012 it has since helped hundreds of clients achieve their product innovation goals. A team of six designers have worked on a multitude of different projects, including consumer, sport, pet, baby and electronic products. They start all the way from a rough concept idea through to manufacture of products ready for store shelves. Their designs have been recognised by industry as well as achieved market success. The company continually seeks to innovate and reduce its environmental impact.

Alvant Limited
Alvant is an advanced materials technology company specialising in the design, development and production of high-quality, lightweight aluminum-based metal matrix composite components for demanding engineering applications across a wide range of industry sectors including electric transport, aerospace, industrial and energy. Using its proprietary patented technology, Alvant has developed a proven process for creating a portfolio of high-performance aluminium matrix composites (AMCs) which can offer the strength of steel at less than half the weight. These materials are lighter, stronger, and more sustainable with increased performance and deliver lasting advantage for Alvant's customers and for the world in general.

Innovative Physics
Innovative Physics Ltd (IPL) is a world-renowned research and development company specialising in technologies including sensor technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and pattern recognition principally in the nuclear, homeland security and medical sectors. Based on the Isle of Wight, the business has set itself apart in the market due to its unique, bespoke approaches to solving complex science and engineering obstacles. Among its success stories, it has developed bespoke, cutting-edge AI technology to detect and identify radioactive material, utilised in multiple international markets, including at the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant which was devastated by the 2011 Japanese Earthquake.

Transcover are specialists in the design and manufacture of automatic covering solutions for trucks. They began after the founder, Steve Hines, saw an automatic covering system whilst on holiday in Florida and purchased a kit to put on his own tipper truck. He quickly realised that US equipment didn’t suit our European market and began the process of designing his own solutions. Today Transcover are world leaders in sheeting systems, employing 38 staff and exporting to over 20 countries. Their products are supported in service with over 150 international dealers and they are proud supporters of Demelza Hospice for Children.

International Business of the Year

Christina May
Christina May manufactures more than five million soap bars a year which are exported to over 34 countries. They are sold through major UK and international retailers, hotel and gift suppliers. It is a family company with a mission to ensure everything it makes upholds the values of English products. That means dedication to quality while offering honest and fair value with excellent customer service. From production to the packaging design, wrapping and boxing up, everything is done in-house - keeping costs competitive while ensuring control over quality. The range produced has recently expanded to include candles, handcreams and showergels.


AbBaltis is a life science business that serves the In Vitro Diagnostics and Biotech markets by offering innovative, reliable and quality disease state plasma, serum and other fluids for their clients. The disease state plasma and residual clinical specimens they supply can be qualified to use as controls, standards and calibrators. In layperson’s terms, AbBaltis provide plasma and serum for the creation of blood testing kits used to diagnose autoimmune, infectious, cardiovascular disease or an allergy. They ship to clients all over the world, with the bulk of revenue coming from exports.

Tractable develops artificial intelligence for accident and disaster recovery. Its AI solutions have processed hundreds of thousands of auto insurance claims, positively impacting people’s lives across Europe, North America and Asia. Tractable is backed by $35M in venture capital and has offices in London, New York and Tokyo.

Warner Surveys
Warner Surveys is an international land, construction and engineering surveying business that has traded for over 40 years. With a head office in Reading, it has a significant international profile. During 2018/19 projects were delivered throughout Europe, USA, Middle East and Asia and ranged from working on shutdowns for clients operating in the oil and gas sector to floor flatness surveys for builders of high tech warehouse facilities.

Bedfont Scientific Ltd
A second generation family business that has specialised in the design and manufacture of breath analysis medical devices for over 40 years, Bedfont’s products are found worldwide thanks to their network of carefully selected distributors. Carbon monoxide monitors include the Smokerlyzer, a motivational tool to help people quit smoking, and the ToxCO, for emergency services, to mass screen for CO poisoning saving time and lives. The NObreath provides accurate analysis of airway inflammation for the diagnosis and control of asthma, and the Gastrolyzer aids in the detection of gastrointestinal disorders. Quick and non-invasive, breath analysis is the new blood test.

Environmental Award

The Naked Pantry & The Naked Quench New Forest
Kathy opened The Naked Pantry as a passion that she wanted to bring to the community. She opened the first Zero Waste shopping opportunity in the New Forest and it has been very well received by the community. She has also become community leader for the Surfers Against Sewage Plastic Free Towns initiative and is working with other businesses, schools and organisations to help them become plastic free too. All stock is sourced with no single use plastics and customers are asked to bring their own containers to refill and so save waste and reduce plastic pollution.

Nadarra Cosmetics
Nadarra Cosmetics is an accidental company. It started when Margaret Sinclair could not find what she needed - organic skincare products without chemicals. She found that products, which said they were organic and natural - contained chemicals and caused her eczema. Becoming frustrated, she decided to design her own 100% organic, natural products. The change to her skin was amazing, her friends saw the changes and started to ask to try, then buy the products – Nadarra Cosmetics was born. Nadarra started out selling at fairs and markets testing the products. Now they are in shops up and down the country.

Frasers is an award winning 5 Star Gold Hotel, Restaurant and Eco Events Venue located on a 300-acre small estate in the heart of the Kent countryside. The business is striving to operate as a carbon neutral enterprise, their ethos being to recycle, reuse and reduce their carbon footprint. The ingredients for the hotel are sourced from the estate or from a plethora of over 50 local artisan producers and suppliers. Their self-catering holiday accommodation is carbon neutral, utilising the latest technologies of high insulation, solar array, rainwater harvesting, air source heat pump and a biological sewage treatment plant.

Spotless Garments
Spotless Garments are a multi award winning local business offering environmentally sustainable laundry, ironing and dry cleaning/special care services. They provide a door to door service bookable online or over the phone. It’s simple: They collect, clean and deliver whilst you get on with more important things!

Ambiental Technical Solutions Limited
Ambiental, originally a Cambridge University spin-off, combine advanced flood modelling, predictive analytics, machine learning and razor-sharp intellectual skills to give their customers the critical insight they need into flooding and flood risk both now and in the future. Their data solutions are licensed by (re)insurers, local authorities, the land and property sector and government agencies around the world to better assess, price and alert for flood risks and other natural hazards. They have grown rapidly in recent years due to customer interest and needs for more accurate and easy-to-use data and software platforms for analysing risk.

Dignity Pet Crematorium
Dignity Pet Crematorium is a family run, independent pet crematorium specialising in individual cremations. Started by Barry and Carole Spurgeon in 1992, the crematorium has gained a reputation for their caring and compassionate treatment of pets and their owners. Now run by their son, Kevin, the business focuses on continuing this service while being as environmentally friendly as possible – including providing plant-based refreshment options for staff. In 2015 Kevin received an honorary fellowship from the University of Winchester for the values-driven and ethical way he runs the business.

Micro Business of the Year

The Gin To My Tonic
Starting life as an Instagram social media blog, The Gin To My Tonic is now the largest touring gin festival in the UK. They run multiple event types including shows which offer the opportunity for gin enthusiasts to meet-the-makers behind over 50 premium gin and mixer brands in person and festivals which include a touring bar, live music, a handful of makers exhibiting, and over 100 different spirits behind the bar. They also run more intimate curated tasting events. The company is built upon a love of distilling, craft spirits, and sharing what makes brands truly unique.

ACC UK Ltd was born in August 2003 after Simon became disheartened when the garage he was working for consistently gave its customers poor customer service coupled with exorbitant service bills. In 2007 custom built premises were purchased after five years of year on year growth. ACC has built their business on the solid foundations of value for money and great customer service. The business has continued to go from strength to strength despite the economic downturn and recent uncertainty and has enjoyed year on year growth. During 2019 ACC invested heavily again in ongoing IMI ATA accredited training.

Barnewood Boarding Kennels
Barnewood Boarding Kennels was founded in 2009, as a luxury kennels in the heart of Oxfordshire. It is owned by its founder, Emma Hall and employs eight full-time members of staff. Barnewood is dedicated to outstanding levels of care with the primary focus on becoming the best boarding kennels in Oxfordshire, with high quality service delivered by knowledgeable, experienced and passionate staff, and most importantly to ensure the care and attention each individual dog receives is of the highest possible degree. They pride themselves on successful business growth all accomplished by offering bespoke packages within a clean and well-maintained kennels.

Claire's Comfy Canines Ltd
Founded and owned by Managing Director Claire Hunter, Claire's Comfy Canines Ltd, is an award winning doggy day care business that has been leading the industry for a decade. They have been nominated for 11 awards and won the UK’s Number 1 Doggy Day Care Business in 2018. They provide an official 5 star rated (licence issued by South Bucks Council) day care service to pet owners in the local area.

Racquet Sports Group
Jack Otton founded Racquet Depot UK in 2008 as a 14 year old schoolboy, using money earned from paper rounds. Jack created a website, selling tennis accessories to consumers, later branching out to other racquet sports. By 2015, Jack purchased one of his suppliers, a mail-order business focused on selling to the trade, including coaches, clubs, stringers and resellers. The two websites currently operate under Racquet Sports Group. Racquet Sports Group currently employs five full time staff and recently purchased their first warehouse distribution centre, with expansion plans underway. The Company consistently dispatches 3,000+ orders a month to Customers across 75 countries.

The Nappy Lady
The Nappy Lady's goal is to promote the economic, environmental and health benefits of reusable nappies. When the company was founded in 1999, it was the UK’s first online reusable nappy retailer. In addition to selling all the parts of a nappy system, the company advises parents on how to use reusable nappies and what is needed in the process. They are the leading retailer and advisory service in the UK and are the company press and industry turn to for advice on nappy related articles.

Creative Nature
Creative Nature is an innovator in the Food & Drink sector, shaking up the market with unique products that cater for all and are ‘Delicious Without Doubt’. With multi-award-winning young entrepreneur, Julianne Ponan at the helm, the brand has launched into over 4,000 UK stores including ASDA, Co-op, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, BP and Wholefoods and exports to over 12 countries around the world. Their range includes allergen-safe, vegan snack bars, baking mixes and brand new Gnawbles that are completely changing the way customers view ‘free from’ foods. With a team of eight, Creative Nature epitomises the phrase ‘small but mighty!’

The Naked Pantry & The Naked Quench New Forest
Kathy opened the first Zero Waste shop in the New Forest just before "Sustainability" became a buzz word in the consumer market. She has brought single use plastic free, ethical shopping to a wide community and has grown from strength to strength since opening in September 2018. She has already won an Environmental Champion award and has been shortlisted as one of the top 25 small shops by Indie Retail UK. She has already expanded into a second unit and has become a public speaker on sustainability issues concerning the high Street and business.

Parker Rose Recruitment
Parker Rose was created by Stephen Lock and Michael Dodsworth having recognised a gap in the market for a local and more independently run Social Work agency. The Social Work sector is becoming more and more pressured each year and it is critical for its supplying agencies to provide innovative and time sensitive services. They set out to offer a local level of experience but also not be restricted to just supplying to councils in the South East alone and took their years of experience and relationships and aimed to launch an agency that relieved such pressures.

The British Craft House
The British Craft House is a multi-vendor platform for British handmade gifts - The Home of Artisan Gifts. Susan ran a successful company (British Crafters) promoting sellers to their different platforms. She realised that all the platforms had short comings and felt that there was room for something different that brought together the best parts of what was available but joined it together with a community of sellers that support each other.

Sixteen by Nine is a truly specialist presentation design agency. They transform the ordinary into the extraordinary by making messages memorable, unleashing ‘wow’ moments for audiences and crafting creative communications people are proud to present. Their expert team blends creativity and analytical precision with considerable experience in creating presentations for all kinds of business scenarios, audiences and environments. UKG Lifeskills Ltd

High Growth Business of the Year

Kent Crisps
Founded in 2011 and independently owned and managed by Kent-born Laura Bounds, Kent Crisps is a truly Kentish brand with regional roots. The ethos of the company is to create the best tasting hand cooked crisps using British grown, Red Tractor assured potatoes and working closely with local producers to create unique flavours that show off some of the best food and drink from the county. This is coupled with using iconic landscapes and places of interest for the pack imagery to promote the county through tourism.

Right at Home High Wycombe and District
Right at Home High Wycombe is a premium quality homecare provider trading since July 2017 supporting mainly elderly clients across South Buckinghamshire with daily home visits of one hour or longer. Their service delivery is friendly, caring, committed and essential to their clients. They are dedicated to making a difference to their clients’ lives by assisting them to work towards or accomplishing a key goal or activity they wish to achieve. Right at Home put clients and their individual preferences at the heart of everything they do, creating detailed and personalised care plans tailored to a client’s individual needs.

Ava May Aromas was started from home in July 2018 by 23 year old Hannah Chapman who was joined by her father and business partner Daryl 2 weeks later. The company produce an array of scented products including candles, wax melts, room sprays, bath bombs, floor powder and reed diffusers. Hannah runs the social media and marketing side of the business in addition to selecting and designing the products. Dad Daryl has been running his own companies for over 20 years and looks after finance, personnel, purchasing and logistics.

Advance Grass Solutions Ltd
Advance Grass Solutions, owned by James Bennett, Sam Honeyborne and Sarah Baker, is leading the way in 21st century sports turf management, offering a complete package of services in consultancy, scientific analysis, R&D and a portfolio of exclusive turf management products. In a demanding market, AGS is developing its own professional range of organic and biological products for sustainable, environmentally friendly agronomy programs that achieve global leading results and produce the best possible year round playing surfaces. At just over 2 years old, the company has secured clients at the very top of the industry including Wembley and the new Spurs Stadium.

Family Business of the Year

Sell Electrical Ltd
Award winning, customer focused domestic and commercial electrical contractor, Sell Electrical Ltd, with their office in Bookham, were established in October 2009. Husband and wife team, Abbie and Stuart Sell, head up the business with Abbie’s mother running the accounts department and her cousin’s wife as Office manager. Their core business deals with private clients, estate agents, serviced apartments and block management companies. They do everything from a call out to a complete re-wire. They have eight electricians and one gas engineer working alongside an office team of five who oversee bookings, quotes, invoices, accounts and marketing.

Thesis Technology Ltd
Thesis Technology is an ethical, innovative, well-respected manufacturing company, with British and international customers. Producing assistive solutions, including the internationally recognised LimbO Waterproof Protector, Thesis aims to improve the quality of life for people with challenging medical circumstances. Thesis was established by four colleagues who embarked on a new venture to provide employment for themselves and their families. The company has remained family focused, with two of the founders’ children now working as Managing Director and Technical Director. Today, the 50-strong team includes members of several families, including those of the founders and others who have joined over the years.

Pennies Day Nurseries
Pennies is a family-run childcare business specialising in early years and kids clubs (established in Kent by Penny Scotton in 1999) and run after her death by her husband, Philip and son Dominic (daughter Zoe serves on the board). Penny’s original business vision, motto (the very best in childcare learning and fun) and the characters she designed and drew remain central to their work which currently covers three sites from Maidstone to Mark Cross in East Sussex. It is non-negotiable that the business will remain in the Scotton family and some bids from chains have already been rebuffed.

Pure Cremation
Established in 2015 by Bryan and Catherine Powell, Pure Cremation is 72% owned by family members. The UK’s only dedicated direct cremation provider with its own crematorium, this business has gone from strength to strength by challenging old traditions and creating space for new ones that meet the needs of today’s society. Family values lie at the heart of this business which has cared for more than 4,000 bereaved families seeking more meaningful goodbyes for their loved ones on their terms. This is reflected in the way the whole organisation speaks to and looks after each client.

Young Entrepreneur of the Year (aged 30 and under)

Jack Otton - Racquet Sports Group
At age 14, Jack Otton started Racquet Depot UK from his bedroom within a two-bedroom family home. Twelve years on, Jack is the owner of a multi-million pound company operating out of his Hampshire distribution centre of 8,000 square feet, with planning currently in the pipeline to increase this to 21,000 square feet. Racquet Sports Group services 75+ countries, delivering 3,000+ orders monthly. 40% are repeat Customers or referred by word of mouth from existing clientele. This significantly demonstrates Jack’s leadership and passion as his mantra, “Serving aces to each and every Customer” is loudly echoed by all his staff.

Abdul Rahman Asmari - RG Security Ltd
As a young boy of 11, Abdul arrived in the UK to join his family who were already settled here. He had many dreams to achieve - he wanted to be a doctor and a policeman. At age 16, he realised that achieving both of those targets simultaneously were pretty hard if not impossible. So he set his goal to open a security company. The security company allows people to have careers and therefore won't resort to crimes. Policeman's dream achieved! As a security guard, anyone who is looking for trouble will be spotted before accidents - Doctor's dream achieved!

Hannah Chapman - Qordujon Ltd trading as Ava May Aromas
Ava May Aromas was started from home in July 2018 by 23 year old Hannah Chapman. Having left university just a year earlier with a history degree, Hannah spent 9 months working for a Social Media company before deciding to launch her own scented candle and wax melt business from home. After 6 weeks, the business was too large to work from home and moved into 1,300 square foot premises in Andover. This was the start of an amazing journey and the company now employs 25 staff and operates from 7 work units/offices on one commercial centre.

Owen Godfrey - Owen Daniels Consultancy
Owen Daniels Consultancy is an engineering and manufacturing recruitment business that was founded by Owen Godfrey in 2011 at the age of 21. Owen started the business after having worked for another recruitment business for 17 months and feeling as if things could be done better. ODC was originally set up as an engineering and IT recruitment business. However, engineering soon proved to be the specialist niche and Owen decided to invest into creating an engineering and manufacturing specialist recruitment company. Owen prides himself on maintaining a modern and professional approach to business, that isn’t driven by numbers.

LILA International Logistics describe themselves as the freshest, friendliest and most vibrant new freight forwarder operating out of London Heathrow. Carlene Jackson is the CEO of Brighton-based tech company Cloud9 Insight, a Microsoft Gold Partner which has provided more than 600 UK businesses with cloud-based CRM software systems. Founded in 2010, the company has 20 staff and is also an award winning apprenticeship provider.

Excel Communications is a learning and development consultancy based in Marlow. In business for over 30 years Excel partners with clients to discover the full potential of their workforce through the design, delivery and embedding of unforgettable, customised learning experiences.

PRB consulting
Richard Bell is a highly experienced rail professional in the areas of health, safety and compliance. He is a diligent person with an eye for identifying areas of non-compliance, extensive knowledge of industry standards and the ability to communicate identified issues in a way that empowers workers to take ownership of safety. A former NEBOSH trainer, Richard's knowledge of safety and legislation is the common-sense approach without compromising safe systems of work. Richard established PRB consulting in 2010 to provide health and safety consultancy services to the rail industry. The business has developed into a leading organisation supporting more than 90 clients.

Fieldworks Marketing Ltd
Founded in 1998, Fieldworks is a specialist retail technology PR and marketing agency. There are three teams – PR, content and digital marketing, integrated around the needs of clients for business development. Fieldworks works exclusively for tech companies that sell into retail, so the Fieldworks team have been built accordingly, four experienced PR professionals with 43 combined years of experience, with big agency and specialist retail/technology backgrounds. Similarly, Fieldworks has curated its content team which comprises of ex-retail technology and national journalists as well as qualified copywriters. Bee-Released Counselling for Carers CIC
Bianca has developed a social enterprise that focusses on the mental health of carers. She noticed that there is a lack of 1:1 mental health support available for carers without restriction. A safe space for exploring deep rooted issues, allowing time to consider self-care, increase resilience and reduce stressors (both mental and physical). A carer will benefit from the support, to maintain and rebuild strained relationships. Helping a carer acknowledge the difficulties they experience and accept the life changes that comes with the demands within that role. Their unsung heroes need the additional 'space' that gives back.

Snowy's Canine Therapy Centre Limited
Snowy’s Canine Therapy Centre was founded by Jackie Dyson in October of 2016, due to her own dog being diagnosed with Elbow Dysplasia. Jackie decided to put her passion of dogs into a business that would benefit other people and give their own dogs an improved quality of life. Therapies offered include Hydrotherapy, Laser Therapy, Myotherapy and Physical conditioning. During their first few months of business, approximately 50 dogs a week were treated and now, thanks to the hard work of the team at Snowy’s, that average has increased to 100+ dogs per week, reaching out to a wider client base.

Right at Home GF
Right at Home GF provides Care at Home to older people in an area that covers 15 miles around Farnham. They support people whether they need a few hours a week for a little extra help around the house, assistance recovering from a hospital stay or full-time live-in care. They employ a team of 100 CareGivers who are given comprehensive training before being matched carefully to a client. They care for many types of adult clients with a particular focus on dementia care where they believe great care can make such a difference to the everyday lives of their clients.
