Terms and Conditions

This document sets out the terms and conditions of entering the FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards 2019.
Definitions
Awards – FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards 
You, Entrant– the person or organisation submitting an entry in the awards
Attendee – refers to those booking for and attending an FSB awards ceremony
Organiser, We, Our, Us, FSB – refers to The National Federation of Self-Employed & Small Businesses Limited.
Finalists – Entrants who are shortlisted by the Judging Panel for their category

A. Entering the awards

  1. Applications for the awards are to be submitted online at www.fsbawards.org.uk.  To begin your application, you will need to go through the step-by-step process, completing the relevant information necessary to your entry. Entries cannot be returned.
  2. When applying for the awards, you should follow the criteria on the requirements for each category as outlined on the online entry form within the designated word count.

    In regards to any data displaying the pattern of growth of earnings as evidence of commercial success, data should be auditable and able to be confirmed by an auditor’s certificate if required. If estimates are provided, particulars of the methodology used in preparing the estimates must be given. You confirm and agree that the information contained in your application is not business sensitive, proprietary or confidential information, and no intellectual property rights attach thereto. The information you provide must be independently verifiable, at your cost. Entries become the property of the Organisers.
  3. Entries should be submitted by 11.59pm on the entry deadline listed on the Awards website. Entries received after this time will not be entered into the awards. 
  4. By nominating yourself, you understand and acknowledge that your attendance (or attendance by a representative) is expected at the awards ceremony, should you be short-listed as a finalist. The Organisers reserve the right to withhold any award or prize for non-attendance.
  5. The competition is open to all SME businesses (i.e. those employing fewer than 250 employees or less than 10 in the case of Microbusiness category entrants) operating in the United Kingdom. Entrants are only permitted to enter into each category once, but each Entrant may enter into as many categories as they so choose, provided that the entry criteria for each category is satisfied. It is the Entrant’s responsibility to ensure that they satisfy all entry requirements for the relevant categories before submitting their entry.
  6. The Entrant will take responsibility for responding to all correspondence with the Organisers and FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards relating to this application.
  7. No responsibility will be taken by FSB, their parent or subsidiary companies or any other company associated with the awards for delayed, undelivered or mislaid entries, or entries not successfully completed due to a technical fault of any kind. Any entry which the Organisers consider in their discretion does not comply with these terms and conditions may be deemed invalid at the sole discretion of the Organiser. 
  8. By submitting the application for FSB Celebrating Small Business Awards, the Entrant will be deemed to have read and understood these rules and be bound by them. These rules include any instruction set out in the entry form, and the terms provided on the Awards/ Organiser's website.

    B. Once your entry is submitted

1.    Categories will determine which judging panel your application will be sent to. A shortlist will be made in each category who will go through to the area final based upon the entry criteria in each category. 

2.    All area category winners (bar the Community Award which is Area only) will proceed to the UK Final to be held in London on 23 May 2019.
3.    Any entries which the Organisers or judges consider in their discretion to be incomplete entries will automatically be rejected. The Organisers reserve all rights to disqualify you if your conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the awards.
4.    There will be 11 category winners chosen for each of the 12 areas listed. 
5.    A Chairman’s Special Award will be awarded at the UK Final only, the winner of which will be at the sole discretion of the FSB National Chairman.
6.    One of the 12 category winners at the UK Final one will be chosen as the overall winner and named FSB Small Business of the Year.  
7.    The Organiser reserves the right to change the judging panel or process without prior notice to the Entrants. 
8.    The judges have the right to withhold an award in any category, or shortlist fewer finalists if they feel the entries are not of sufficient merit.
9.    We reserve the right to combine, rename and restructure categories at any time during the entry and judging process if the number of nominations received does not allow for a fair competition e.g. fewer than four entries. 
10.    Where an Entrant is selected as a UK finalist; that Entrant may be asked to supply any additional financial or other information in relation to their entry. By submitting an application, Entrants consent to this information being made available to judges and third parties associated with the awards process.
11.    The judges’ decision is final and binding, no correspondence will be entered into.


C.    What happens if I am shortlisted to the Area Final?

1.    Entrants will be notified of the outcome of their entry by email should they be shortlisted. Please note only shortlisted finalists will be notified.
Shortlisting will take place immediately after the entry closing date which is listed at www.fsbawards.co.uk and will take approximately 3 weeks to complete. 
2.    Shortlisted Entrants will be listed on the awards website at www.fsbawards.co.uk.
3.    Entrants who have been shortlisted as Area finalists will receive a formal invitation to the Area Final. The dates of each Area Final and venue details are located at www.fsbawards.co.uk (“the Event”), where the winners will be announced. A limited number of additional tickets will be available to purchase. Full details regarding the purchase of tickets will be listed on www.fsbawards.co.uk. 
4.    Entrants shortlisted as finalists will need to arrange their own travel arrangements to the Event. These expenses will be at the Entrant’s own cost and will not be reimbursed by the Organisers. FSB and any third parties involved in the Event will not be responsible if Entrants and their guest(s) are unable to attend the Event due to any reason, including but not limited to unforeseen circumstances or travel delays.
5.    If an Entrant is notified as a finalist and does not acknowledge such notification within seven days, we will be entitled to withdraw that Entrant’s right to be judged as a finalist.
6.    The Entrants shortlisted as finalists and successful Entrants agree to take part and assist with any promotional activities or PR supporting the Event and/or the Awards and consent to their name and photograph/short film being used for such purposes. Any objections to this should be notified to the Organisers at Events@fsb.org.uk. 
7.    There will be up to 11 Category winners, one for each of:

Digital Innovation of the Year 
Micro Business of the Year
Business and Product Innovation Award
Ethical – Green Business of the Year
International Business of the Year
Start Up of the Year
Scale-Up of the Year
Family Business of the Year
Young Entrepreneur of the Year (under 30 years of age)
Community Award (area only)
Employer of the Year

8.    The Organisers reserve the right to refuse entry, or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions.
9.    There are no monetary prizes.
10.    The winners from all categories will be presented with a trophy at the Area Final event.
11.    Category Sponsors may offer additional benefits to the winner of their category. This is at the discretion of the sponsor and will be confirmed by the sponsor. FSB will be under no obligation to uphold any additional benefits offered which are not specified in these terms and conditions.
12.    Any winner may publicise their Award provided the year in which it was won is stated. Digital assets will be provided in this regard to each category winner at both an Area and UK Final level. Winning or entering the Awards does not confer on you any intellectual property rights in relation to the Awards or the Organisers, which remain the property of the Organisers.

D.    What happens if I am shortlisted to the UK Final?

1.    Entrants will be notified of the outcome of their entry by email should they be shortlisted. 
2.    Shortlisted Entrants will be listed on the awards website at www.fsbawards.co.uk.
3.    Entrants who have been shortlisted as finalists will receive a formal invitation to the UK Final to be held in London on 23 May 2019 at Battersea Evolution (“the Event”), where the winners will be announced. A limited number of additional tickets will be available to purchase. Full details regarding the purchase of tickets will be listed on www.fsbawards.co.uk. 
4.    Entrants shortlisted as finalists will need to arrange their own travel arrangements to the Event. These expenses will be at the Entrant’s own cost and will not be reimbursed by the Organisers. FSB and any third parties involved in the Event will not be responsible if Entrants and their guest(s) are unable to attend the Event due to any reason, including but not limited to unforeseen circumstances or travel delays.
5.    If an Entrant is notified as a finalist and does not acknowledge such notification within seven days, we will be entitled to withdraw that Entrant’s right to be judged as a finalist.
6.    Winners will be announced at the UK Final evening. However, if they are not in attendance at the Event, we reserve the right to allocate the award to another finalist.
7.    If you are shortlisted, you will receive a single complimentary place to the awards. Any further tickets purchased are at your own cost.
8.    The Entrants shortlisted as finalists and successful Entrants agree to take part and assist with any promotional activities or PR supporting the Event and/or the Awards and consent to their name and photograph/short film being used for such purposes. Any objections to this should be notified to the Organisers at Events@fsb.org.uk. 
9.    Winners will be announced at the UK Final event and dinner. There will be up to 11 Category winners, one for each of:

Micro Business of the Year
Business and Product Innovation Award
Ethical – Green Business of the Year
International Business of the Year
Start Up of the Year
Scale-Up of the Year
Family Business of the Year
Young Entrepreneur of the Year (under 30 years of age)

In addition one overall category winner will be announced as FSB Small Business of the Year
